After fishing Dry Flies for approximately five years and enjoying that aspect of fly fishing, I began to realize that fish are not always feeding on the surface, so I began a three year (mostly unsuccessful ) journey to teach myself the art of nymph fishing. The amount of frustration I experienced finally compelled me to swallow my pride and find someone that could teach me.
I learned of a teacher, from Davis High school, that taught fly fishing classes (nymphing techniques) so I decided to sign up. I very quickly realized that these techniques would soon pay off.
After taking Mikes Beginning class approximately three times with various family members and his Advanced class many time as well, I've finally found myself catching big fish this year (2011) in Alaska with Mike and my many new fishing buddies.
The greatest treasure to this whole journey is the closeness it's brought to me and my family members and the awesome friends I've made through the trips that these classes have provided me.

And to think it all started with frustration.
