I first took Mike's class in 1999 after I was transferred here from California so I could go fly-fishing with my brother-in-law without being too embarrassed.  I repeated the beginning class and took other classes when I talked other people into taking them.  It turns out I haven't fished much with my brother-in-law but I have fished a lot with people I met in the class.  The people and a common activity are the best parts of Mike's classes.  I didn't turn into the world's best fisherman but I can usually catch a fish or two, so it took me a while to get into helping.  After I started, I helped Mike demonstrate some uncommon techniques.  Not all of the helpers are dedicated enough to get hooks, past the barb, stuck in their fingers so Mike can demonstrate hook removal techniques.  I have no plans to repeat the hook demonstration.  Come join the fun and fish with Mike and the group.
